ACNE SCARS

Acne scars are permanent textural changes and indentations that occur on skin due to severe acne and scars cannot be erased. Microdermabrasion and chemical peels are minimal invasive techniques, it provides textural benefit. The superficial acne scars may benefit but deeper ones need more aggressive settings.

Fractional radiofrequency (RF) modalities, such as FMR and bipolar FRF, provide excellent results in the treatment of acne scars, especially small scars. Compared with FLs, FRF is better for patients who are sensitive to pain, and treatment has a shorter downtime and are preferred in darker individuals with least chances of PIH. It enhances dermal matrix regeneration; it results in improvement of skin roughness in 70% of patients with acne scars and large pores.

Fractional lasers leads to formation of zones due to injury which further leads to repair of the skin. It improves moderate to severe acne scarring and yields superior outcomes when compared with nonablative lasers.

Patients with moderate to severe acne scarring most often need multimodality therapies for optimal and faster results, and the cost of such is an important aspect to discuss from the beginning. Acne scar type and severity, dyspigmentation, textural issues and patient’s skin type need to be considered to optimize outcomes.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Excessive and unwanted hair is one of the most important cosmetic concerns that women face. The causes may be genetic or even hormonal imbalances. At our clinic, we offer pre laser consultations to evaluate and look for factors that indicate an underlying hormonal abnormality. Following which, a treatment protocol indicating the number of sessions required and the schedule to be followed is created, customized to each patient.

WHAT IS HIRSUTISM?

Hirsutism is defined as the presence of terminal coarse hairs in females in a male-like distribution. For example, it may involve the growth of coarse hair in the beard, chin, upper lip and chest areas which are usually not associated with excessive hair growth in women.

The cause of this is due to excess secretion of male hormones called androgens which is abnormal in women. It is commonly associated with polycystic ovary disease/syndrome (PCOD/PCOS), and rarely due to underlying tumors in the ovary or the adrenal glands.

The best treatment option would be laser hair reduction simultaneously with the treatment of underlying abnormality. Laser hair removal is a very good option for women who do not have excessive hair but would prefer to not undergo the pain and hassle of repeated and never ending sessions of waxing/ threading/ shaving/ epilation. In fact, over time, the laser hair removal tends to be a cost effective option as it includes only 5-6 sessions of permanent results taking into account the multiple sessions of hair removal by waxing/ threading/ shaving that one would have to go through lifelong.

TATTOO REMOVAL

Painless Tattoo removal is a procedure done to remove an unwanted tattoo permanently. It is done using a high quality laser. The number of sessions for removal depends on the location, colour and the number of layers of tattoo. The initial sessions need close monitoring, as there may be some oozing, crusting and even blistering, post a session of laser tattoo removal, and this needs some careful looking after. Later on, we need to wait, as it does take time for the clearance to be visible and for changes to be noticeable.

CARBON LASER PEEL

A very popular treatment that is completely painless with minimal-to-zero downtime. It is highly beneficial for people with oily skin, blackheads, enlarged pores, dull skin, and acne on the face or body. A layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, where it penetrates deep into the pores.

The laser is also said to remove dead skin cells, blackheads and oiliness. It is suitable for all ages and can lighten age spots and dark spots, fade freckles, reduce wrinkles and fine lines, shrink pores, and remove blackheads and acne. It can also lift and tighten the skin, improve elasticity, moisturise and give a bright and radiant complexion.

PIGMENTATION

Pigmentation is one of the most common problems seen in Indian skin. The treatment used for managing hyperpigmentation, depends primarily on the cause. At our clinic, we employ a range of treatments, either singly or in combination, to deal with pigmentary problems. Together with pigment lightening chemical peels, LED therapy, Q Switched Nd YAG laser, completes the array of pigmentation removal treatments available at our clinic. It can be used for various skin conditions like Melasma, Freckles, Nevi/Birth marks, Post acne pigmentation etc.
